Class Descriptions

  • Mysore

This is a Traditional Ashtanga, Mysore-style session, in which you will be learning and going through the asanas (postures) series individually, at your own pace, while a teacher provides direct support and facilitation.

All levels of experience are welcomed, as you will get direct support from the teacher.

  • Led Primary

This is a guided class that will take students through the complete Primary Series, the bedrock of Ashtanga Yoga. This sequence, often referred to as yoga chikitsa -yoga therapy- emphasizes forward bends -working deeply on hips and hamstrings-, and building strength by introducing students to jump-backs and jump throughs; creating a positive effect on the digestive and nervous systems.

This is a multi level class. However, prior experience with Ashtanga practice is encouraged, as this is intended to be a moving meditation, with minimal instruction, traditional Sanskrit counting and emphasis on the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa method.

  • Ashtanga Fundamentals

A beginner friendly class aiming to introduce you to the Primary Series. In this hour-long practice we support you to build a strong foundation focusing on standing and balancing poses, followed by an abbreviated seated sequence, accessible backbends, and a short finishing sequence to create a well-rounded experience! Great for students new to yoga, new to ashtanga, or those wanted a shortened Primary Series Ashtanga practice!

  • Rocket

The Rocket® is a well balanced routine of postures based on a modification of the traditional Ashtanga Primary and Intermediate series, presenting a mix of classic and creative variations of poses aimed to invigorate and strenghten the body, while promoting a spirit of freedom for the mind.

This is a mixed level class, as it enourages exploration and playfulness, at the same time that remains accessible through modifications, and the practice of acceptance of our bodies' present abilities.

  • Yin

Yin Yoga is a supportive complement to energetic practice and a stand-alone practice alone of body awareness. Over the course of this class students will explore the connection between the nervous system and non-muscular soft tissues. Depending on the focus from the teacher parts of the body or fascial body lines (meridians) will be themed. Classes will cover somewhere between 6 and 15 unique postures with lots of grounding and support from props.

  • Ashtanga Variations

An adapted version of the Ashtanga fundamentals highlighting sections of other Ashtanga sequences. This format is catered to the class roster and may include some intermediate postures.
